A Comprehensive Course for Managers of Affordable Housing
Created by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA), on the HUD Handbook 4350.3. This course has been updated to reflect all changes in the HUD Handbook 4350.3. The CPO is a required course for the National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP) certification. It provides exceptional occupancy information for all types of affordable property management staff (including LIHTC developments combined with HUD and public housing projects undergoing RAD conversions to PBRA).
Students who successfully pass the exam will receive a CPO certificate and lapel pin. All CPOs will be listed in an annual, national certification directory. Each year following certification, all CPOs will need to submit a modest renewal fee in order to maintain their certification.
Students will learn occupancy requirements of subsidized multifamily housing. The CPO course covers all portions of the 4350.3, including eligibility, occupancy standards, tenant screening, assets and income, the lease and rent computations, etc.
This accelerated virtual Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) course is a condensed version of the NAHMA CPO full 3 day course. Designed with the busy property manager in mind, this version of the CPO course will include the CPO manual and the HUD Handbook 4350.3. NAHMA has shortened this course to a format that is better suited to fit working professionals who:
- Have been currently in the affordable housing industry, and have taken occupancy related courses in the past (online or classroom)
- Have exposure to the HUD Handbook 4350.3 and familiarity of how to use the handbook.
Fees and reasonable expenses for the course are an approved project expense.
