Kitchen Appliance Repair - Excludes Refrigerator
This is an introduction & overview of the appliances found in a typical residential kitchen such as the range (gas or electric), dishwasher, & garbage disposal, (not including the refrigerator – which is a separate class). The session will review the mechanical & electrical components, operations, cycles, functions, & general troubleshooting of each of the listed appliances. Typical design & installation principles, & a review of how to read wiring diagrams will also be a focus of this class.

Topics covered will include:
  • Electrical safety & Lock-out/Tag-out
  • Push-in type Range/Oven appliance (gas or electric)
  • The built-in dishwasher – plumbing & installation
  • Sink installed garbage disposer – plumbing & replacement
  • Operating cycles – all appliances
  • Common repairs – all appliances
  • Reading a typical wiring diagram
  • Preventative maintenance – all appliances
  • Troubleshooting – tools, process, & techniques

Refrigerator Troubleshooting

In this session, we will be discussing refrigerator troubleshooting. In the last 5 years, there have been numerous changes to top mount refrigerators. Having a good understanding of the repair & diagnostics of these units will aid technicians in completing the repair on the first call. We will start the discussion with safety & tools, & then review different work order situations. For each work order situation, we will then discuss how to use a meter & tools to identify the problem as well as different solutions to complete the repair & return the refrigerator to normal operation.

HVAC Troubleshooting
In this session, we will be discussing HVAC troubleshooting. With recent legislation impacting the industry, having the knowledge to make these repairs is necessary to keep your budget under control & your residents & guests cool. Our experts will provide various HVAC symptoms that may occur & discuss how to safely & properly use your tools to diagnose & repair the system. Lastly, we will review the importance of preventative maintenance in maintaining your HVAC units.

Electrical Outlets and Problems
In this session, we will review problems associated with electrical outlets. First, we will discuss the overall safety considerations & tools necessary to diagnose common electrical outlet issues. Next, we will review common outlet repair & service issues, how to use your meter when identifying the issue, how to complete the repair, & ultimately how to return the outlet to a safe, normal operation.
