Trump Administration Partners with CVS and Walgreens to Provide COVID-19 Vaccine to Protect Vulnerable Americans in Long-Term Care Facilities Nationwide

The CDC's new “Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program for COVID-19 Vaccination” program provides end-to-end?management?of the COVID-19 vaccination process. While first priority will be given to health care workers, first responders, and vulnerable people in nursing homes and other congregant settings, seniors in affordable housing units could potentially be given priority to receive vaccines based on identified need. The CDC notes one scenario includes availability of vaccine in 2020 for prioritized patient populations. Prioritized populations include individuals residing in a number of different types of housing communities, including but not limited to assisted living facilities, group homes, HUD affordable senior housing, independent living facilities, and “other” where you can describe the population(s) that you serve.

Filling out the Retail Pharmacy Partnership Program form indicates to the CDC that you are interested in potentially participating in this program when vaccines become available, but does not commit you to participating should your development be selected. The deadline to apply is November 6, 2020. Signing up is not a guarantee that your organization will be able to participate in the program, but indicates the volume of need to the CDC.
