NAHMA HUD Update: NOFAs for Veterans Housing Rehabilitation, Mainstream Vouchers, and FUP Vouchers
Please find information below regarding HUD's recently-published Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs):
- Veterans Housing Rehabilitation and Modification (VHRM) Pilot Program
HUD's VHRM pilot program awards grants to nonprofit organizations to rehabilitate and modify the primary residence of veterans who are low-income and living with disabilities. The pilot program will award competitive grants to nonprofit organizations that provide nationwide or statewide programs that primarily serve veterans or low-income individuals. The grants may be used to modify or rehabilitate eligible veterans' primary residences or to provide grantees' affiliates with technical, administrative, and training support in connection with those services. Applications for the program are due on June 25, 2018. For more information, click here.
- Mainstream (Section 811) Vouchers
In Fiscal Year 2017 and 2018, Congress appropriated funding for new Mainstream Housing Choice Vouchers to assist non-elderly persons with disabilities. Public Housing Authorities and Indian Housing Authorities are encouraged to partner with Health and Human Services agencies that offer supportive services and help individuals live independently. - Family Unification Program (FUP) Vouchers
HUD's Family Unification Program provides housing assistance in partnership with Public Child Welfare Agencies to families whose children may be placed or maintained in out-of-home care due to housing instability, as well as to youth between the ages of 18 and 24 who are leaving foster care and are at-risk of becoming homeless. The NOFA adopts certain policy priorities, including leveraging Continuum of Care (CoCs) and promoting supportive services to FUP-eligible families and youth. Applications are due on July 24, 2018.
