HUD To Preserve and Rehabilitate Affordable Rental Homes in Newport News, VA

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced today that it has closed a Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) transaction with the Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NNRHA) at Orcutt Townhomes. This transaction allows NNRHA to substantially rehabilitate 40 affordable rental homes through a combination of funding from state, local, and federal sources. >> Read More

Federal Housing Administration Helps Over 765,000 Families Buy Homes and Maintains a Strong Insurance Fund

The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) published today its annual report to Congress describing the work of its single-family mortgage insurance programs in fiscal year 2023 and the performance of the FHA Mutual Mortgage Insurance Fund (MMI Fund) which supports that work. Despite challenges in the housing market, FHA facilitated access to mortgage credit for more than 765,000 homebuyers and homeowners, including more than 33,000 seniors who obtained a Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) during the fiscal year. >> Read More

Survey Finds HUD Employees Feeling Safer, More Empowered, and Valued in 2023

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today released the results of the 2023 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), which found that in general, HUD employees feel more protected in their workplace, empowered, and valued in their roles than before. The FEVS, which is the largest annual survey of government employees in the world, tracks how federal employees view their current work environment, including workforce management, policies, and new initiatives. >> Read More
