USDA Partners to Create Thriving, Livable Communities That Will Attract People and Jobs to Rural Areas and Tribal Nations

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Under Secretary Xochitl Torres Small today announced that USDA is awarding $4 million in cooperative agreements to 17 organizations under the Rural Placemaking Innovation Challenge (RPIC). Placemaking is a collaborative planning and technical assistance process that helps leaders from rural communities create quality places where people will want to live, work, visit and learn.

2023 Operating Cost Adjustment Factors (OCAFs) Published

Today, HUD published the attached Notice establishing the 2023 Operating Cost Adjustment Factors (OCAFs) for project-based assistance contracts issued under Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 and renewed under MAHRA for eligible multifamily housing projects having an anniversary date on or after February 11, 2023. HUD is also soliciting public input on two proposed technical changes to its OCAF calculation method.

RAD Section 811 and 202 Feedback; RAD Resident Fact Sheets Now Available in Spanish

The Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) is a tool developed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address living conditions in public housing properties. New Data Shows 11% Decline in Veteran Homelessness Since 2020—the Biggest Drop in More Than 5 Years

The U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) announced preliminary results of the 2022 Point-in-Time Count showing an 11% decline in Veteran homelessness since early 2020, the last time a full count was conducted. This is the biggest drop in Veteran homelessness in more than five years.

HUD Seeks Feedback on Section 811 and Section 202 RAD Conversions

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022 authorized the conversion of properties assisted under HUD's Multifamily Section 811 Assisted Housing Program for persons with disabilities through the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD). HUD is seeking industry feedback on potential changes to be made to Section IV of the current RAD Notice that would guide the conversion of these properties.
