Today, HUD’s Office of Multifamily Housing shared the following policy updates on Physical Conditions Standards and Inspection Requirements (H 2018-08), Wholesale REAC re-examination, and FHA Principal Risk Criteria Revision (H 2018-09).  Please note that I have attached the REAC update and the physical inspection notice.

Secretary Carson directed a wholesale re-examination of how the Department conducts REAC inspections.

NAHMA COQ Awards Applications Due Next Friday

Alexandria, Va., Oct. 26, 2018 - There is only one week left to finalize your application for the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA)’s Communities of Quality (COQ) Awards competition. 

HUD Reminder to Owners In Affected Areas

HUD released the following reminder for owners in the Hurricane Michael affected areas.

SAHMA Members Impacted By Hurricane Michael

Hurricane Michael left destruction across the panhandle. A SAHMA member was able to make contact with a representative from Royal American Management, who was directly impacted by the hurricane. They are currently operating out of tents in the parking lot of their corporate office in Panama City. Below is a list of items that would be helpful for their recovery efforts:

Short-term Extension of Federal Financing Bank Risk Share Initiative

HUD announced that they will be extending their Multifamily risk-sharing initiative with the Federal Financing Bank (FFB) for eligible Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) through December 31, 2018.
